Neurodivergent Business Support: Admin Strategies That Actually Work for Your Brain

How do booking systems work? How do booking systems work? What the HELL is an Admin Assassin?

Neurodivergent Business SupportDid you know that we provide neurodivergent business support? As we’re neurospicy ourselves, we know how overwhelming life and work can become. Several of our clients are neurodivergent, which makes them incredible at what they do. But they often need a little support to help them manage their business. We’ve shared some practical admin strategies that actually work with your brain and not against it.

Running a business is hard enough even if you’re neurotypical. When you have ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, or another neurodivergent trait, this brings strengths, but it can lead to challenges. Traditional productivity advice doesn’t always work for neurodivergent brains – in fact, it can make approaches to everyday tasks even harder.

Stop Trying to “Fix” Your Brain

Firstly, you’re not lazy, disorganised, or incapable. You’re a neurodivergent business owner. So, your ultimate goal shouldn’t be perfection but functionality. Standard corporate systems weren’t designed for every type of brain. You need to approach admin tasks a little differently if you want to get things done. Your systems need to be built around your energy, focus patterns, and your strengths.

When you’re feeling overwhelmed, you need to reduce “decision fatigue”. If you have repeat processes in your business, then look at ways to standardise these. Create simple templates for emails and responses that you can quickly adapt and reuse. Use checklists for recurring tasks so you can tick off every step each time. Automate as much as you can, from your invoices and bookings to customer reminders. The aim of the game is to SIMPLIFY your life.

Body Doubling & Accountability

Body doubling is a proven method to help boost your motivation and focus by working on a particular task alongside another person. This can be virtually or in person. It doesn’t matter what the task is as long as it doesn’t distract the other person. This shared experience creates structure and accountability, enabling you to stay on track so you can get things done.

Co-working sessions are also great for accountability. You meet as a group in an external location and work on individual tasks with others present. You could also schedule accountability check-ins with someone to help keep you focused on certain tasks. Or, if you’re really struggling with your admin, consider outsourcing those tasks you always avoid.

When It’s Time to Get Support

As a neurodivergent business owner, does any of the following sound familiar?

  • Your admin feels more overwhelming every week.
  • You’re consistently avoiding certain tasks and things aren’t getting done.
  • Your business growth is being held back by systems that don’t work for you.
  • Your mental load is negatively impacting your health and wellbeing.

It’s okay, we get it. But it’s time to get some admin support tailored to your needs.
